If you are transferring between two BC public-post secondary institutions to continue your education, you may be eligible for a $5000 Ike Barber Transfer Scholarship.
What You Should Know
You must have completed either one or two years of study, and be transferring the credits you have earned to a second institution where you will complete your program.
Ike Barber Transfer Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement (2.5 GPA required) and community service or volunteerism.
Detailed Eligibility Criteria:
After One-Year of Full-Time Studies ($5,000)
To be able to apply for this Scholarship, you must…
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant), convention refugee, or protected person living in Canada;
- be currently attending, and transferring to, a public post-secondary institution in British Columbia;
- have completed one year of study with a minimum of 21 transferable credits at a BC public post-secondary institution and must transfer in order to complete your degree;
- have at least a 2.5 Grade Point Average on your best 21 credits;
- clearly demonstrate that you have significant community and/or school involvement, and academic achievement, supported by two references;
- be starting your studies at a new institution between May 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024.
Extra Considerations
- You can apply even if you have not yet completed the required minimum 21 credits but, will have completed them before transferring to a new institution;
- You can apply in advance of receiving official acceptance of admission to a new institution;
- You can only apply if your transfer occurs after May 1, 2023;
- You cannot transfer credits from a completed degree.
After Two-Years of Full-Time Studies ($5,000)
To be able to apply for this Scholarship, you must…

- be currently attending, and transferring to, a public post-secondary institution in British Columbia;
- have completed two years of study with a minimum of 45 transferable credits at a BC public post-secondary institution and have chosen to transfer in order to complete your degree
- have at least a 2.5 Grade Point Average on your best 45 credits;
- clearly demonstrate significant community and/or school involvement, and academic achievement, supported by two references;
- are starting your studies at a new institution between May 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024.
